I could quote the whole article, it was so good, but I'll stop there and just hope I piqued your interest! As homesteaders, I would speculate that most of us are not afraid of a good, hard day's work, but it certainly would benefit us to have a good understanding of why it's such a good thing! Especially if we want to pass on that work ethic to the next generation. Young people accustomed to living a "get it now" lifestyle will want a really good answer for why we work so hard when it would be so much easier to just go down to the store and buy whatever we want! Read the article or go study it, but be ready to give an account!
So, changing subjects... Labor Day has always marked the beginning of fall for me (even though it doesn't officially begin until September 22nd). Growing up in the South (many moons ago), we never started school before Labor Day. And in keeping with the changing season, we never wore white shoes after the holiday until the next Easter. Times may have changed, but it's so ingrained in me, I still feel like Labor Day marks the end of summer and the beginning of fall. That said, enjoy the new banner for a few months!
