Drain Cleaner
1/2 - 3/4 C. baking soda
1/2 C. white vinegar
boiling water
Sprinkle baking soda down inside your drain. You might want to pull out the plug to do this in the bathroom sinks and remove any excess gunk that has collected - such as hair! Next pour the vinegar down the drain and let this sit for 15 - 20 minutes. Finally, pour boiling water down the drain as the final step.
• Note: this should not be used to unclog a stopped up drain!
The Kitchen Sink
• Use the same drain cleaner recipe to freshen your disposal. When finished, run it with a lemon peel or some other fragrant fruit. Orange is nice and it's oils are a natural degreaser. I've been known to throw in a handful of herbs to give it a nice smell when I had some left over. My favorite is mint.
• To sharpen your disposal blades, turn on the disposal and grind up some ice occasionally.
Now, isn't that a fresh idea?
