About Amy

Welcome to Homestead Revival! Thank you for taking a moment to find out more about us and our homesteading mission. We each have a bit of history that has brought us on a "journey back to the farm"...
Growing up, I longed to live in the country, raise animals, and grow a garden. Somehow, despite living "in town", I managed to raise a couple of sheep and occasionally plant something, however small. Thankfully, my dad loved to hunt and fish, so I've spent some time hanging out in the wild, tagging along!

After college and grad school, my husband and I packed up and moved to California (a bit like the Beverly Hillbillies, just two hours north!). Now we live on a few acres in the beautiful mountains of the Sierra Nevadas near the San Joaquin Valley. Here is where we are raising our three daughters and ministering on staff in a local church.

As a wife and mother, I longed for something more for my family... a simpler life where we would have time to savor the blessings of God's creation, develop our family relationships, and enjoy better health. And so, over time I developed three goals or passions for Homestead Revival™...

• To see women joyfully embrace the opportunity to return to all aspects of homemaking, including the garden, raising animals, cultivating herbs, learning to cook wholesome foods, and creating a beautiful, inviting atmosphere for the family that would nurture relationships based on Proverbs 31:10-31.

• To call families to a simpler life by getting back to the basics of living closer to the land God gave us, not only for our benefit, but as faithful stewards of His creation based on Genesis 1:27-30.

• To build community relationships and leave a legacy by mentoring the next generation in homesteading skills, that they may learn these things from their youth and not have to struggle to discover what many of us have had to realize later in life after squandering our God-given roles and gifts based on Titus 2:3-5.

We can't all live on a farm in the country, and our town may not look like Mayberry, but we can support those farmers around us who practice good stewardship of the land and animals. We can learn to create an oasis even in the city, growing what we can, and even raising a few animals. More importantly, each and every one of us can embrace our God given roles and work toward fulfilling His plan for our lives. Living closer to the land brings a lot of priorities into focus, including our relationship with the One who created it all!

At Homestead Revival™, I discuss a variety of topics, but all are related to these three mission statements in some way or another. I hope you'll join me, become a follower, and add your comments to the conversation! In doing so, you'll be a part of a community of like-minded women, reviving homesteads everywhere!
