From the back, you can see all the pretty layers. I changed the order because in the original recipe it had the mini-chocolate chips and the peppermint at the top, but it was hidden by the ribbon. If you used a larger jar and didn't fill it up to the top, you wouldn't have that problem.
On top, I added some kraft paper stamped with a "To/From" tag to hide the metal lid.
- Peppermint Stick Cocoa
- Recipe from : Sunset, December 2004
- 1 cup powdered milk
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup miniature chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candy
- Layer powdered milk, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, chocolate chips, and peppermint candy.
- *Note: This mix will fill a 1-quart jar (12 servings), but if your containers are different sizes, just keep the ratio of ingredients constant. On the back of the tag, write: "Mix contents in a large bowl. For each serving, place 1/3 cup cocoa mix in a mug and stir in 1 cup boiling water. Store remaining mix in airtight container."
- Don't forget to make some for yourself!

Beautiful Amy! I love how it is presented. Might make up a few jars of these as gifts for unexpected friends & family. Have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteHi Amy,
ReplyDeleteThis is a super cute gift. I'm not a fan of peppermint at all...weird, I know :) :) I would however love a huge helping of cinnamon and extra chocolate to throw in the hot chocolate ;) :) Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)
Amy, thanks for posting this! I had a few more gifts to make and needed a little inspiration ;)
ReplyDeleteMmm this sounds delicious, I am going to have to try it. Hot cocoa is one of my favorite Winter time guilty pleasures. :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great recipe! I happen to have all the ingredients on hand...and I'm thinking Christmas Eve with the family :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recipe~

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this as I think the grand kids and I will make this while they are here and they can each take one home with them. It will kind of like taking a little of grandma back home with them. Sounds wonderful
ReplyDeleteI love the way you did the jar. It looks really good. I just copied it. For the cookie jars I make . I will add cookie spatulas instead of the peppermint. Thanks for sharing. I am keeping the hot cocoa for my self.LOL
