"But we urge you, brethren, to excel still more, and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you, so that you will behave properly toward outsiders and not be in any need."
~ I Thessalonians 4:10 b -12

Good counsel to meditate on as we plunge into 2011.

I love this verse. Being content to "live a quiet life...and work with your hands" is such an antithesis of how he world works.
ReplyDeleteGood to remember, good to think on at the start of a new year. Thankyou for posting! :)
Very appropriate Amy, thank you.

Very appropriate as we get into this new year. Happy Sunday
ReplyDeleteSeveral years ago we felt our Lord impress these verses on us as 'life' verses for our family. Such a treat to see them in your blog this day!

Hi, I love your blog! I found you through someone's Favorite Blogs list and I'm so glad that I did.
ReplyDeleteI live in Utah, am originally from NC, and my husband and I are trying to be urban homesteaders. It's easier where we live because the Salt lake City area isn't really a big city and many of our friends and neighbors raise fruit and veggies and have chickens. I have a large veggie garden that has taught me muich and provided veggies for much of the year. I have apple and peach trees. I want to get chickens this year.
I can't wait to read more of your blog.
Thank you for the wonderful resources here.
God bless,
Elizabeth
Mmm...this is actually my life verse; more than once my husband has been asked "What's different about you?"
ReplyDeleteSometimes quiet, constant testimonies speak volumes.
