Barn Hop #19

Good Monday Morning, Friends! Are you ready to Barn Hop? Skipping a week due to a holiday makes it seem so long in between. But that means more to share, right?

I'm keeping my post short today... just some bullet points, but I hope to do entire posts on some of this really soon!

• Our laundry line is up and ready to go!
• The garden is FINALLY looking like it will produce something other than lettuce!
• However, I'm losing the battle of weeds in the garden this year.
• I am fermenting my first batches of pickles! Hope they turn out good!
• My sourdough starter is doing well and I'm going to start making things with it this week. Yum!
• I finally got my lovely clematis planted (which I've had for over a year) and it looks beautiful!
• I'm working on digging a huge hole to plant two climbing roses bushes next to the chicken coop. I've dreamed of this forever!... roses climbing up the coop that is.
• I have a rooster!! Actually two. Seems that whoever sexed the layers didn't do too good a job. Two out of eight are male. One is a lovely Buff Orpington rooster which I'll probably keep.
• I've been cleaning out the school room of old books and curriculum as well as adding more bookshelves in order to get ready for the fall.

  6. I am planting a yellow Lady Banks rose which will bloom in the spring and then I got a Cecile Brunner that is a continual bloomer (most only bloom once a year, but this one repeats - from Antique Rose Emporium in TX). I can't wait!!

  11. Thank for the great barn hop! I've joined every week since I found your website even though I'm homesteading an apartment. I would love to make sourdough starter but I'm afraid I don't have the time between the rabbits, cleaning, the gardens and work. :)

  12. I'm actually surprised at how easy the sourdough stater is to maintain. Even though cultured dairy is not hard, this is even easier!

  13. I've been busy growing stuff up the side of the coop and run as well! I love how it looks and the shade it provides!
