If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain,
or if I command the locust to devour the land,
or if I send pestilence among My people,
and My people who are called by My name
humble themselves and pray
and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways,
then I will hear from heaven,
will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
~ 2 Chronicles 7:13-14

"When He broke the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying,
"Come " I looked, and behold, a black horse;
and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand.
6And I heard something like a voice
in the center of the four living creatures saying,
"A quart of wheat for a denarius,
and three quarts of barley for a denarius;
and do not damage the oil and the wine."
~ Revelations 6:5-6
We have a choice. And because God loves us and is merciful, He is very patient. But are we seriously surprised when food prices are rising? Weather patterns bizarre? Gasoline prices skyrocket? And nations rise and fall in the blink of an eye?
God still rules the world and man can not thwart His plans. We would be wise to humble ourselves before Him!
And pray.

I am not a religious woman. I am spiritual and embrace all religions by nature. BUT....I HEAR this message LOUD and CLEAR. Thank you so much for posting this.....it's time people wake up. We have slept for too long and it's time for change. I am loving your blog and following a similar path (although quite far behind you!) by simplifying my life and trying to be more sustainable (we got bee hives the other week which we rent until I can learn to tend to them!). I just wish I had woken up to this earlier but then again...better late than never, right??
ReplyDeleteOh, Amy, so very true! The day is quickly approaching!
ReplyDeleteALL of Matthew 24 also gives us MUCH to reflect and pray on in regards to the return of our Messiah...so MUCH to reflect and pray upon! May we all be ready for that glorious and terrible day. May we all hear that still small voice calling us to Him (NOW) as He is preparing our hearts NOW for that day and may we abandon all our "ideas and plans" for His. May we become so familiar with His Word that it is embedded into who we are- A part of us that can not be seperated and that we may not be decieved (Scripture says many of the elect WILL be decieved in the latter days!). May we all lay down our lives...as our Messiah showed us to...Those who have ears, let us hear.
ReplyDeleteSo true. Thank you for this simple but powerful reminder!
ReplyDeleteAmy, I just got goosebumps! It's all good to spend time and energy building up our storehouse, but more important is to make sure we are ready for what comes after, and what is coming! God is a god of mercy and love, but He is also a god of justice and truth. thank you for keeping this in front of our eyes!
ReplyDeleteA great post with such fine words.
ReplyDeletePerfect scripture choices Amy, for such a troubled time. For anyhone who has not read Revelation,I highly suggest reading it,once a month. As with eveything in the Bible, the more you read it, the more your eyes become open to understanding it. Wishing you and your family a blessed Sunday.
ReplyDeleteAmy, so true. Thanks for sharing and have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the comments! Matthew 24 is very clear that a time of great tribulation WILL come, but thankfully, I believe the elect will NOT be deceived...
ReplyDelete"For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect." Matthew 24:24.
However, the false profits will be so convincing, that only the elect will NOT be mislead - this will definitely reveal those who are in Christ!
"Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge." 2 Cor. 1:21-22 (See also Ephesians 1:13-14 and 4:30) We are safe in Him once we've received Christ as Lord and Savior.
I said we have a choice and that choice is to continue believing we can do whatever we want or to repent and acknowledge God. Before it's too late. Seems like the handwriting is on the wall.
I do pray you are right Amy and I agree. I just re-read my comment and realized my emphasis should have been in a different place. OOPS! (I has just read Matt 24 when I read your post and also had Matt 7:22-23 bouncing around in my head in the connection to Matt 24 so it just kind of flooded out of me - However, making thatconnection between my Matts and your end time reflections might have been too presumptious...I am not sure if this is an accurate parallel...just something I was processing and certainly a catagory I pray I never fall into!)
ReplyDeleteI do believe if we are IN HIM, He will (continue to) stear us through the hard times and keep us from being decieved no matter the circumstances. I trust Him with all I am (as meager an offering as that may be). :-)
Always glad to know we are in agreement. And I enjoy a good discussion, too! So much is happening in our world and so fast that it's mind boggling!
ReplyDeleteThanks for adding your clarification!
Yes it is mind boggling. Before reading your post I was just having these same thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing these bible verses with us. You speak so much truth, scary things are going on in the world today. We all need to be anchored in Jesus. I am following your blog, you are welcome to follow mine as well. Blessings jane
